Youth of Color Internship Program

Arte Libre VA believes that it is important to provide leadership training and arts organizational experience to Youth of Color, within an equitable framework, which is why ALVA offers Youth of Color paid Internship 

opportunities.

Family Day at Frederick Douglass Park

Arte Libre VA has been facilitating intergenerational, community based participatory mural projects at Frederick Douglass Park's Annual Family Day celebration since 2019.

Streetscape: Crosswalk Mural Program

Arte Libre VA is partnering with the City of Winchester and the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley to bring public art to Piccadilly Street!

Free ALVA Art Kits

Sponsored by the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley and ioby Crowdfunding, Arte Libre VA was able to distribute over 1200 Free ALVA Art Kits to Youth in our Community impacted by the global pandemic in 2020.

The Free ALVA Art Kits will 

become an ongoing program.

Celebración

Arte Libre VA will be partnering with the Winchester Main Street Foundation to bring vibrant arts and cultural programming to this annual festival in Old Town Winchester celebrating Latinx/o/a Heritage Month and Hispanic Heritage Month.

LOVE/ AMOR Sign

The LOVE/ AMOR sign project is a collaborative public sculpture that will be installed at Daniel Morgan Intermediate School.  This project is supported through generous contributions from the Marion Park Lewis Foundation and the Community Foundation of the Northern Shenandoah Valley.

Fremont Street Nursery

Once a month Arte Libre VA provides the Youth at Fremont Street Nursery with fine arts lessons and activities to help nurture their fine motor skills, love of exploration, and their creativity.

Expressions of Hope

Expressions of Hope is a community based, participatory public art project, created in response to the global pandemic by Teaching Artist and Arte Libre VA founder Abigail Gómez.  This public art installation is supported by the Community Foundation of the Northern Shenandoah Valley.

Screen Printing Workshop

With the support of the Marion Park Lewis Foundation and Daniel Morgan Intermediate School, Arte Libre VA was able to bring an interactive, physically distanced screen printing workshop to over 70 area Youth.
